Steve Turner Contemporary is pleased to present Portrait of the Artist as a Visa Card, a solo exhibition by Los Angeles-based artist Augustus Thompson, in which the artist will present a multi-media installation consisting of an inkjet print, a floor installation, sculptures and a painting.

Thompson counterpoises images drawn from consumer culture and those of his own invention. Like a latter-day William Morris, the artist values the handmade and physical, but unlike Morris, he does not castigate modern technology. Instead, he suggests a delicate coexistence.

Augustus Thompson (born 1985, Richlands, Virginia) earned a BFA at University of California, Santa Cruz. He has had a solo exhibition at Ed. Varie, New York (2013) and a two-person exhibition with Chris Lux at New Image, Los Angeles (2012).
