July 12 – August 23, 2014
Steve Turner Contemporary is pleased to present Labor, a solo exhibition by New York-based artist Jason Gringler which consists of paintings constructed from smashed glass, welded steel, cut acrylic glass and sprayed paint. The artist uses industrial materials and labor-intensive processes to create works that are highly formal and carefully executed while at once gestural and painterly.
Jason Gringler (born 1978, Toronto) earned a BFA from Ontario College of Art and Design (2001). He has exhibited widely with recent solo exhibitions at Galerie Stefan Ropke, Cologne and Brand New Gallery, Milan. This is Gringler’s first exhibition at Steve Turner and it has been curated by Los Angeles-based art consultant Lindsey Christensen.
