Steve Turner Contemporary is pleased to present WET PAINT 3: SIX YOUNG LA ARTISTS, an exhibition featuring recently created works by Sergio Bromberg, Noah Doely, Alyse Emdur, Yaron Michael Hakim, Masood Kamandy, and Jane Lee. Works in a range of media will be exhibited including video, performance, photography, sculpture and painting. The process of selection began last September and during the course of the last year, over two hundred artists were considered before these six were selected.
The artists represent six Southern California MFA programs, Claremont, Otis, USC, UCLA, UCI and UCSD, and their works are similarly diverse. Sergio Bromberg will be performing an intervention at the gallery throughout the length of the exhibition. Noah Doely will exhibit a selection of ambrotypes depicting re-imagined 19 th century scientists, inventors and naturalists. Alyse Emdur will present Weatherwoman with Lissette, a three part video that documents her interaction with a Miami weatherwoman and former Miss America. Yaron Michael Hakim will exhibit an installation consisting of sculptural and painted components. A multi-channel video by Masood Kamandy explores aspects of Los Angeles’ character, geography and identity. Jane Lee will be exhibiting poured abstract paintings inspired by fashion, design, trend and style.
WET PAINT 3 will be on view with extended hours (11 to 9), from Saturday, August 20 through Saturday, August 27, 2011 with the opening reception on Saturday, August 20, between 6 and 9. There will be artist talks each night at 8 PM during the run of the show
