Steve Turner is pleased to make its fifth appearance at Untitled, Miami Beach with a selection of work by seven international artists:
Émilie Brout and Maxime Marion, Paris
Jonas Lund, Swedish, lives in Berlin
Ryder Ripps, New York
Rafaël Rozendaal, Dutch, lives in New York
Joshua Saunders, San Diego
Michael Staniak, Melbourne
Yung Jake, Los Angeles
All of the artists participate in “post-Internet” art practices, and while their materials and fabrication techniques differ, their works all relate to technology, the Internet, social media, data and the use of new production techniques. To highlight a few, Rozendaal has used the 19th century Jacquard textile technology to produce a woven abstraction of a Twitter page. Ripps created a pair of laser-jet prints that contain thousands of typical click-bait images downloaded from the internet, while Yung Jake will present a pair of powder-coated paintings on steel whose content relates to both social media and his popular YouTube rap videos. In addition, we are pleased to introduce the Paris-based collaborative team of Émilie Brout and Maxime Marion whose selection of videos are shown on broken cell phones and monitors.
